vividshimmer works for Verizon, and he confirmed that because it's water-damaged, they will NOT do an in-store swap - it would have to be filed as a claim and they'd have to ship me another one, and again, there's that damn $50 deductible.

Looks like, ironically, I'll have to borrow a phone from someone else for the drive down.
AHAHAHAHAHA... bah.
Because I'll be goddamned if I'm going to make that drive WITH CATS - and no cell phone.
Yes, I know it can be done - but it's also possible to pull your own wisdom teeth with nothing more than a pair of pliers and a bottle of whiskey - this does not mean that it is advisable to do so.

Got Ghost backing up Alfred so I'm running on Batman right now. The DVD drive on Alfred has been a bit squicky lately, so I'm hoping all will go well. Since it's a 4+ hour back-up process it darn well better go well, else ~D~ is going to be even crankier than she already is.
Huh. I am actually at a loss as to how much time this back-up with really take - the "Time remaining" counter seems to be steadily working it's way UP - went from 4+ hrs. and is now over 5+ hours and appears inclined to keep adding time, making me saaaaaad. Isn't that supposed to count down like an Doomsday Device and let me know how close to being FINISHED it's getting? And if it isn't, why not, damnit? Humph. And why do so many of my similies contain references to Armageddon? What is wrong with meeeeeee...?
Oh, FFS - the counter is now over 6 hours and climbing.

I did not know that I owned so much stuff until I had to start putting that shit into boxes.
FWIW, this does definitely mean that I am coming back to ABQ to pick up my stored things in August, once I know where my own new nest will be. So start planning that awesome "Welcome Temporarily Back!" party, kids. :-P

On the plus side, my bitchin' speaker system connects just fine to Batman, so at least I don't have dimished sound capacity while I'm waiting for The Backup That Never Ends. It's the little things, I tell you.
And sushi was had withjarmon , and boxes of things were donated to my favorite thrift store en route. And many boxes were added to the Jenga Assembly of Doom in the kitchen - which I would take a picture of to show you if were not for the Great Unplanned Underwater Excursion of the Phone. Garararargh.
Nope. Don't feel like continuing the extended cranky - ooooh, look/listen - dataheaven is streaming Jesus Jones - commence crankage of the audio variety. Yay for mood-reversing tunage. :)
