Well that's just -
Man.

I'm not tizzying just yet, because LJ's certainly done some damned dickish things in the past and still managed to stay afloat and hang onto it's userbase before this, but -

Gah.  The alternatives - Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc - all seem like the equivalent of really fucking annoying people that are the reason I don't go to parties - because if I wanted to be innudated with the uninteresting and poked every fifteen fucking minutes with completely useless updates, I'd read a telephone directory while working in a daycare.  Seriously.

I sure hope this gets sorted, because LJ is still the only 'social networking' site that I've actually met people that I am invested in as friends offline as well as on.

So then, where would you all go if/when LJ finally goes the way of the mastodon and other petrochemically converted has-beens?

I don't know, to be honest. After a bit of thinking about it, I recently purged every entry in my LJ (all 696 of the damn things) because whatever I'm going to do with it, I want to make a fresh start. I'm more concerned about where the people (and communities) that I follow on here will move to, I'm not hugely worried about where to post my stuff since the only things of any value I've posted in the last year have basically been links to comicgenesis.

You're one of the people I'd miss, even though you haven't been around lately. I didn't notice that you'd ixnayed everything, but I would have eventually - I do that looking back thing on other folks from time to time.

I think a lot of people kind of dropped below the radar this year, but maintained at least a token presence for the same reasons.

I hope that there's a solution, or a damned good substitute in the making. I'd really, really miss - this.

P.S. I wanted to send you an X-mas card, but I don't have a current address. Boo.

Sorry about that, I kept meaning to reply to your posts looking for addresses and then forgetting to. Part of the reason I want to change how I use my journal, really. But yes, you're one of the folks I'd be following to somewhere else should LJ do the bucket-kicking can-can.

ya i think the useless or overly private, tmi or "written for just myself but posted on my public journal" entries should be either made "private" by the user so only they can see it- for journal keeping purposes, or I'll just keep scrolling past them not giving them a second look and move on, lol.

LJ seemed to be alot more interesting a few years ago.

Unfortunately I dont write as much as I used to.. too busy to post or sometimes I dont post because I dont wish to share it with others.

Went from a journal to a blog. kinda sad.

Actually, I like the personal stuff - it's the incidental "I just ate a sandwich!" "I just got on the bus! "I just had a bowel movement!" crap that I don't really care about reading.

I like seeing the inside of the way people's heads look - I'm less interested in the reality tv view that results when people are limited to 140 characters or less.

yeah i hear ya..

i like personal stuff too, seeing inside of someone- soulful posts.. but only if its meaningful, from the heart, interesting.

i dont like the TMI about people's drama, posts that cry out for attention with whining, people who talk about how great they are on every post.. or really private shit that doesnt need to be shared on lj.

I dont twitter that often but when I do, I always go back and make the post private or put those posts on a special list for lj friends who dont mind seeing them.

someone who only posts using twitter can get quite annoying.

If LJ goes under it may help break my interweb addiction. ;)

However, I probably will just continue to play MMO's to satisfy that urge. I don't have a desire to blog on myspace seeing as I use it mainly for business purposes.

ive been looking at old posts, i had not realized how much history i have on this thing, and at times when me and my pen and paper journal were not talking ...i will be horribly sad if it disappears.
