Whither Wilt Thou Wander?
Jan. 6th, 2009 10:09 amWell that's just -
Man.
I'm not tizzying just yet, because LJ's certainly done some damned dickish things in the past and still managed to stay afloat and hang onto it's userbase before this, but -
Gah. The alternatives - Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc - all seem like the equivalent of really fucking annoying people that are the reason I don't go to parties - because if I wanted to be innudated with the uninteresting and poked every fifteen fucking minutes with completely useless updates, I'd read a telephone directory while working in a daycare. Seriously.
I sure hope this gets sorted, because LJ is still the only 'social networking' site that I've actually met people that I am invested in as friends offline as well as on.
So then, where would you all go if/when LJ finally goes the way of the mastodon and other petrochemically converted has-beens?

Date: 2009-01-06 09:20 pm (UTC)I think a lot of people kind of dropped below the radar this year, but maintained at least a token presence for the same reasons.
I hope that there's a solution, or a damned good substitute in the making. I'd really, really miss - this.

Date: 2009-01-06 10:57 pm (UTC)LJ seemed to be alot more interesting a few years ago.
Unfortunately I dont write as much as I used to.. too busy to post or sometimes I dont post because I dont wish to share it with others.
Went from a journal to a blog. kinda sad.

Date: 2009-01-07 02:05 am (UTC)I like seeing the inside of the way people's heads look - I'm less interested in the reality tv view that results when people are limited to 140 characters or less.

Date: 2009-01-07 02:16 am (UTC)i like personal stuff too, seeing inside of someone- soulful posts.. but only if its meaningful, from the heart, interesting.
i dont like the TMI about people's drama, posts that cry out for attention with whining, people who talk about how great they are on every post.. or really private shit that doesnt need to be shared on lj.
I dont twitter that often but when I do, I always go back and make the post private or put those posts on a special list for lj friends who dont mind seeing them.
someone who only posts using twitter can get quite annoying.
