Sep. 22nd, 2004 02:12 pmCan't wait to get my student financial aid - er, next week (won't be able to stand in line Friday because of work).
Because I have GOT TO GO TO VEGAS.
Ahem.
I have absolutely no interest in gambling - the only time I ever spent as a gambler was during that brief period in time when all the internet casinos would give you FREE MONEY to play as an incentive to then bet your own money. Heh-heh. For abut six months, I played all the casinos with free money, only ONCE betting my own ($30) - and over all, I cleared about $2,000. Then they finally got smart (there were a LOT of people doing the same thing, and hey, when it's not against the rules, it's like free money - who wouldn't?) and changed the system - so I stopped gambling. Phooey on that.
But I have GOT TO GO TO VEGAS now.
To explain: I now work in the Tech Services part of the library now - and we get the new acquisitions before they go on the shelves. And today I checked in one of those coffee-table-type pictorial books about some the of odd and gorgeous things there - Madame Tussaud's Wax Museum, the drive-through pawn shops, the Cathedral-ish Church of Scientology, and Star Trek Experience in (I forget which) hotel - and of course, all the theme-parkish casinos and all that stuff.
If I go back to Washington having spent 7 years basically just down the block frm the world's biggest adult playground without ever having gone to it - I will deserve the world's biggest ass-kicking. Yay, verily.
Not entirely true - I went there once about 11 years ago, and spent all of 48 hours there with a sullen traveling companion who made it as excruciatingly horrible of an experience as he possibly could - which was pretty excruciating. So really all I saw of Vegas was the inside of a cheap, dirty motel room and Circus Circus.
So, when I get my financial aid and plot out my budget for the next three months - I want to try to manage some way to finagle a little vacation out of it.
Anyone want to come?
C'mon - you KNOW you wanna...

Date: 2004-09-22 09:55 pm (UTC)Can you believe, I've lived in Los Angeles my whole life and never been? It's a damn shame.
I believe the Star Trek expirience is in the MGM Grand, lol.
You should go. That sounds like fun. I'm planning on going sometime next year.
