May. 31st, 2007 12:47 amBecause of the recent skirmish over LiveJournal making sweeping deletions of journals in response to pressure from the Warrriors for Innocence group, I have turned off the Automatic Renewal feature for my paid account.
I got an automated response e-mail notifying me of the change (ya know, in case I made a mistake - how thoughtful!). In the e-mail, it says you can e-mail back with a response. This was my response:
I will not reactivate automatic payments unless LiveJournal releases an official statement about their handling of the Warriors for Innocence *CENSORSHIP* campaign, and updates their customers *clearly* as to the official Terms of Service regarding future issues of this nature. I will encourage my friends to do the same and pass the word around.
You really screwed the pooch on this one, guys. I have a daughter - I certainly hope that children are protected from pedophiles. That said - You've let a LOT of people down. Knee-jerk reactionary behavior + no accountability to your **paid** customers(Loss of customer trust) = --> NO PROFIT.
EPIC FAIL
Don't dick with your paying customers, LJ. Trust and loyalty are earned things. You're going to have to pony up and start issuing some statements post-haste if you want to undo the damage already done.
