my_window_seatI think I just committed my first act of - um, activisim.
After reading about the proposed bill to allow Congress to reverse judgements of the Supreme Court (http://www.theorator.com/bills108/hr3920.html), I wrote letters to the Alibi, the editors of every applicable news show on NPR, and the same at Salon.com. Maybe it slipped my attention - many things do, because the news tends to scare me more than a little - but I haven't heard anything about this from any other news source.
I'm hoping that I will, now.
Please, (insert Deity of choice), don't let this be something that goes unnoticed, and unspoken for.
I'm not a voter, which most people say means that I have no right to bitch. I feel that, because I pay taxes, a portion of which in turn go to pay the salaries of those in charge, I most certainly do have the right to bitch - notwithstanding the fact that I supposedly live in a country based in part on the idea that all free speech - including bitching - is protected.
If you work at a company whose boss's practices you believe are unreasonable or unjust, are you not supposed to voice displeasure simply because you aren't the one who hired him/her? To my way of thinking, which is generally not one which meets with any general approval, you most certainly should be able to.
However, bitching without action rarely results in any kind of positive outcome. Not that it doesn't have it's place - you have to start somewhere, after all - but unless it's followed up with a better alternative, or at least suggestions along that line, it only creates disharmony to no purpose.
But you know what - the current White House Boss wasn't voted in anyway - so fuck anyone who tells me that I have no right to bitch about him or the rest of our current Administration even though I didn't vote. Hopefully, this won't happen again, and I don't necessarily think that anyone who truly believes in the process shouldn't vote - but I feel like my work is elsewhere.
Anyway, I wrote some letters. Bully for me, and may I have my fucking Gold Star now. Thanks.
