Aug. 7th, 2011 08:24 pmSo. After getting awesome 'lessons' from a friend a couple weeks ago, I attempted, and surprisingly, succeeded, at making bread today. Nothing short of a miracle, as I wasn't paying attention while putting the ingredients together and had to scramble to incorporate stuff mid-process - but I have two fresh loaves of bread now, had two slices with butter, and for a first attempt outside a bread machine, I think I can be proud of myself. Also, has a lovely sweet honey flavor. Mmmm, honey. Discovered that I don't have a good-length serrated knife anymore, though. I know I had one one, but several too many moves later, it has gone away. Boo. Need bread-cutting knife, as bread-making will now be a regular occurrence. Yesh.
Have also finished with the making of a third batch of ravioli, soon to be bound for the freezer once it's had a chance to dry for a bit. Made two other batches a couple weeks ago - a mushroom pesto ricotta, and a crab and something else filling - ricotta, but some other seasoning I don't recall now - this last batch was ricottta, 10-year aged parmesan, goat cheese, and mushroom, with just a smidge of pesto.
Good christ, I'm going to be eating ravioli for the rest of my goddamn life if someone doesn't come over for dinner and help me consume this stuff.
Side note - hey,
katballou , if you're reading this - don't know if I have your current phone number - did you get my voicemail on Friday?
La. Weird Sunday. Accomplished stuff at least. Also vacuumed and spot-cleaned carpet, put away laundry, and did all the dishes from all the cooking project the last few days.
Wish my head was in a better space. Today has been full of inner turmoil, self-doubt, questions that I can't find acceptable answers to but must be dealt with regardless - yeah. Like that.
But as mentioned above, at least I got shit done.
