Took a Suminagashi class last night.  I've wanted to try this for ages, but never had the guts because I was sure I'd screw it up and be all grumpy at myself.  Turns out, it's really not that hard.  Whodathunk?

Now I want to start making paper again and really fuck around with this stuff.
Oh, yeah.

Because my time-management skills FAIL these days, it's taken me this long to finally look at the disc of recovered photos from my cell phone.  Yeah, those pictures.

I can't possibly say thank you enough times to [livejournal.com profile] killbox  for recovering these.  The vast majority of what was on there was kinda crap, but the small handful of pictures that actually got taken while my daughter was in town are absolutely irreplaceable.

And because I love you, I will put them behind a cut.

Except this one, because it is my very favorite - and until the stupid card died, it was the screensaver on my phone.

The most Beyootiful Girl in the World at the State Fair.

And the rest, behind ze cut. There's not a ton, but they are really great pictures, not just because she's gorgeous, but because she's also a spaz. I only take partial credit for that, because her dad at least USED to be a spaz, too. )

Again, [livejournal.com profile] killbox , you are hereby awarded Most Awesome Human Being points forever and ever and ever for saving these.
I'm still really, really broke right now, but I owe you so very big time!

Now that he's hitting the internet in style, I'm sure I can expect groupies.

...

Frack.  That's all I need.

So, I keep talking about how neat it is to have a camera phone.

You were warned.

To relieve some of the anxiety caused by the last photo op, I promise that this one is entirely urk-free. And since I'm sure there will be a plethora of fireworks pics from all and sundry who own cameras, this will be a little different. The last one is my favorite. :)

Storm Progression )

And in non-photo news, a very big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] elegantdreams and mommy for a wonderful birthday/holiday dinner and relaxing evening. LOVE YOU!

Now to finish one take-home midterm and study for the in-class one tomorrow. Gah.

And because [livejournal.com profile] elegantdreams requested photographic evidence, I hereby present you with a case study of why the accidental overnight freezing of hardboiled eggs is a Very Bad Thing:

Cloaked behind the cut to satisfy emphatic requests not to share without warning.

So here's the deal:

I'm moving in two weeks, and I need to get rid of some stuff, specifically I need to get rid of some reproductions of my artwork that I don't want but am having a hard time with the idea of just dumping in the trash. Silly perhaps, but there it is.

Anyway, these are available for free - yes, for FREE - if you want them. If you're local, so much the easier - lemme know if you want one and we can work out pick-up or drop-off details. If you live out of state, I can ship them to you, but you will have to pay the shipping cost, which shouldn't be much because these are not terribly heavy.

Here's a preview thumbnail of one - more designs are available, and bigger images are behind the cut.

So, behind the cut, images and details and stuff - first come, first served. )

So c'mon - take one into yer home, won'tcha please?

Nothing much of note to say, except sleeping for 14 hours and waking up with a wanging headache after not having done anything delightful the night before suggests that one may be coming down with something. Bleah.

That said, I think that having a digital camera is a wonderful, wonderful thing.

See if I'm not right.

You know you want to look. )

Taking a quick study break by darning some socks.

I wonder if I'm the only person left on the planet who still darns socks.

I'm not sure if I do it because I'm poor, because I get bizarrely attached to specific kinds of comfy socks, or just because I can.

::sigh::

EDIT: And this is what a well-darned sock looks like. Because I know you wanted to know.

Oh. Dear.

Yes, well, here's a handful of pics from our night out the other night - please don't ask me to explain the cow. It wasn't my cow.

But first - GRATUITOUS CLEAVAGE! )

He's big.

He's bad.

He's enjoying the hell out of the front yard.

It's AUSTIN!

He's small.

He's not terribly bright.

He seems to think he's Hobbes.

It's SPOOKY!

I love my digital camera, and I love Photoshop.

And I love knowing some of the most bad-ass creative artists and musicians in the world.

If you're in town, you should be seeing these posters around sometime in the next couple weeks - and you should not miss this guy play. You heard it here first.

Now if I only knew how to make websites with sound clips....

Of course, it would also be nice to be paid in something besides pizza - but hey, it was good pizza. :P

Most of you have already seen my crap, but this is the kinda stuff I used to do when I had spare time and disposable income to blow on art supplies. I call it 'sculpture', but I think it's really just the result of submitting to obssesive-compulsive impulse to mess around with sharp objects and noxious chemicals. Whee.

Someday, I'll actually get around to finding out how much it will cost to get a custom-cut mirrors to go inside them.

Sigh.
